Nancy J. Fagan loves to write historical and contemporary women’s fiction, short stories, and essays, often with medical themes. You can find her work in the upcoming anthology 20 Over 60, Scarlet, Tamarind Literary (UK), the award-winning Coolest American Stories, and as a guest writer for Jane Friedman, among others. Her essays on living with rheumatoid arthritis appear in Kaleidoscope Journal, Oklahoma Humanities Magazine, and Abilities-Canada, with reprints throughout North America. She enjoys developing strong female protagonists by digging through historical accounts and library archives to help her create realistic scenes. Using her background as a nurse who has worked in a variety of settings, she brings added richness and complexity to her characters.
In addition, she has a BA in English from Mount Holyoke College, and an MFA in Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
